Everyone needs help from time to time, especially in the midst of painful circumstances and difficult trials. As a church seeking God's transformation for our everyday relationships and conversations, this autumn we'll be using the book 'Side by Side' to explore what it means to walk alongside people who are hurting.
'Side by Side' (written by Ed Welch, a highly respected biblical counsellor and successful author) takes us through practical skills we all need to ask for help and give help to one another. Written out of the conviction that friends are the best helpers, we pray that this book will equip us to share our burdens with one another - through kind acts of love and gentle words of wisdom.
We'll be exploring ideas from 'Side by Side' in our Sunday services (17 September - 26 November) and our midweek core group discussions (find out more about our core groups here). We're also inviting everyone to commit to reading the book and meeting to discuss this with 2 others fortnightly over 10 weeks. This could provide a focus for those who already meet to chat or pray during the week, alternatively we can recommend others for you to meet with. The book is easy to read, comprising 17 short chapters that can each be read in 5-10 minutes.
Can you commit to reading Side by Side and meeting with others to discuss over the next 10 weeks?
Click here to sign up (by Sunday 1 October) so that we can support you through this exciting journey and suggest people for you to meet with if necessary.
Copies of Side by Side are available from the church office (suggested donation £7) or you can buy online: Side by Side, Edward T Welch, Crossway (2015) or via Kindle.
